A guide for student photojournalists pt. 2 - How to use a 24-70mm F/2.8 lens
Audience waiting for President Obama at Orange County Fairgrounds
This entry will focus on how to use your newly purchased equipment.
*Do not sell away you old equipment just yet. You will need them in the future.
Get acquainted with your lens. Start by shooting at 24mm F/8~F16 (High depth of field and sharper images)
Concentrate on what the people are doing as a collective.

At the fair, photograph families talking amongst each other. At the mall, photograph children waiting to sit on Santa's lap. At the beach, photograph people watching the surfers. You get the idea.

You want to get very used to each focal length before moving on to the next one. Its kind of like what Leon from "The Professional" said to Mathilda when he was training her with the sniper rifle.
**ALSO, shoot horizontally.
